Nerf Rival Apollo Review and Internals

That's right! With a little luck and a lotta leg work we were able to get our hands on the Nerf Rival Apollo fresh from Target (check out our DPCI post for more info)! Big shoutout to Shawn and Blood Angel for comin' through on the legwork and getting these in hand super quick!

We know some of you prefer reading about our exploits, and we like to save a little somethin' just for the blog every now and then. So here's a quick overview of our first impressions of the blaster, as well as internals pics, and some ammo details.

Recently I have run across a very inexpensive way to create a flashlight for nighttime Nerf craziness. While looking for dart containers at my local Storables location I came across this little light below:

Bay Area Nerf Game Roundup July 2013

DUGG: You can't keep a good zombie down, thankfully the Davis Urban Gaming Group is hosting an HvZ (and more!) event on campus Saturday, July 13th. Are all you ghouls ready to play at "The Deathstar"? Night Of The Living DUGG kicks off at 8pm, so head over to the event page for more details.

Jerico - The Urban Spy Game: It's a espionage double feature! Prepare for two thrilling nights of action and intrigue! First, on Monday, July 15th prepare for Jerico: A Weeknight Home Game on Jerico hill at 7pm. Then return to San Francisco with a licence to kill on Tuesday the 30th; Jerico On The Road - Fisherman's Wharf begins it's mission briefing at 7pm. HvZ: SFSU: Return to the campus of the dead and prepare for a night of terror and Nerf! Help contain the outbreak and try not to get turned, or be a zombie and get ready to taste those delicious braiiins! The HvZ group and San Francisco State University will be holding a game on Saturday, July 20th at 7pm on campus. More details and signups can be found at their event page.

Bridges Rock Gym: Prepare for truly unique experience, where you can climb, jump, and tag your way to victory! Bridges' Nerf Night event this month takes place on Saturday,uly 20th at 7pm. Space is limited, so hurry and fill out the waiver from their website and call to reserve your spot. Admission is $10, be sure to check out their event page for more details.

Foam Action Network: There's no rest for the wicked, or you for that matter! Brave the hordes at Fort Mason and battle for the survival of the human race! Humans vs Zombies: Clear and Hold takes place on Saturday, July 27th at 2pm. Be sure to get all the details at the event page.

Bay Area Urban Recreational Nerf (B.U.R.N.): Racecars? Lasers? Areoplanes? It's a Nerf blur with this month's B.U.R.N. event: Nerf Tales! As always snacks and drinks will be available onsite as well as raffle tickets available for an Elite Alpha Trooper, so don't forget to bring cash!  This is an all day event Sunday, July 28th, starting at 11am in Sunnyvale. Sunday Showdowns: Join this rag tag band of rogues every Sunday, in Memorial Park in Cupertino. It's good casual fun, with a variety of game types and some blasters you just might not expect. Test your skills and prove yourself at the Showdown.

Bay Area Nerf Game Roundup May 2013

Hey Everyone, Josh and I wanted to start doing a new feature on our website where we take a look at all the games running in the Bay Area and post about them in one easy to read megapost. Let's get started!

Bay Area Urban Recreational Nerf (B.U.R.N.): BURN will be hosting their month event on Saturday, May 11th starting at 11 AM. It will be down in the South Bay in Sunnyvale. This event, we were fortunate to get our hands on an Elite Alpha Trooper to raffle off! Check out the event page for more details!

Zombies! (UCSC): Zombies on your Lawn can be a major problem. Especially if your lawn happens to be among the majestic redwoods of the Santa Cruz mountains. The UCSC game will be on May 11th at 1 PM. Check out their event page for more details.

HvZ: SFSU: There's an exciting night game for Humans vs Zombies going on at San Francisco State University on May 18th starting at 7:30 PM. Check out the details and their promotional video on the event page.

Jericho - The Urban Spy Game: Into espionage? Have a problem trusting those around you? Then it's time for you to get into the Spy Business! Jericho takes place in a city environment letting people play as spies. Their next event is May 18th at 1 PM, check them out on their meetup page.

Foam Action Network: Our buddies up in San Francisco are hosting an event on Saturday, May 25th at 1 PM. The theme of the game is tactical ops, pitting tactical squads against each other to complete objectives. Foam Action Network is also planning a lot of big event for the whole Bay Area, so stay tuned to their main page. For more specifics on their HvZ event, check out their event page.

Bridges Rock Gym; If you're looking for a truly unique experience playing Nerf, check out the Bridges Rock Gym Nerf Nights up in El Cerrito. Climb walls, run on padding, and duck behind cover! Technically not in May, but their game will be on June 1st. Admission is $10 and spots are limited, so fill out their waiver on their website and call today to save your spot!

Davis Urban Gaming Group (DUGG): We're going a little north of the Bay Area, but every Saturday at 8 PM the good folks over at UC Davis play Nerf on their campus. Check out their group for more details.

Novato Nerf Nation: Up north in Novato the NNN has biweekly Nerf wars! If Saturday's are hard for you to make, these games take place biweekly on Sundays. Check out their next game on their event page.

New Jolt and Stryfe in the Bay Area

Both the "Elite" Jolt and the Stryfe have been spotted in the Bay Area. The Jolt was seen at Best Buy in Sunnyvale. A Toy's "R" Us in San Jose has been reported to have the Stryfe.  The Jolt at Best Buy is retailing for $4.99, while the Stryfe at Toys "R" Us is going for $24.99, more expensive than either Amazon or Walmart.

While the Jolt has a new paint job, and the nose has been changed a little, it does not actually mention the Elite line anywhere on it or the packaging. Looks like Nerf may still be reserving that for blasters that hit certain ranges.

Righteous Fondue is hosting Bay Area Nerf Out!

The Event will be held on Saturday, August 11th, 2012, starting at 11am at William Cann Neighborhood Park, Union City.

There will be a raffle as well as trading going on, so be sure to bring some extra blasters, and lots of darts!
